Rich Snippets

Overview

The Rich Snippets module overrides the core Search styles and templates to closely match the UI of major search engines for Drupal's internal site search. This project is an extension of the core Search and Schema.org modules to display structured data as the familiar rich snippets that end users expect. Rich Snippets also integrates seamlessly with the Apache Solr Search Integration module.

The theory behind this module is to provide an out-of-the-box, best-in-breed SERP (search engine results page) that is user friendly and informative for end users. By building upon the widely adopted Schema.org guidelines, it also encourages best practices surrounding structured data.

Usage

For an explanation of how this module works along with a quickstart guide, please refer to the README.txt file included in the module. Also refer to the Supported schema section for the schema and properties that are supported out-of-the-box.

Gotchas

• Does your theme override the search-results.tpl.php or search-result.tpl.php files? If so, this module won't work as expected out-of-the-box. You will have to use the Rich Snippet module's templates as the base files for your template overrides.
• Using Solr? If so, you will have to re-index your site after installing this module since the schema.org mappings and other information are stored in new fields.
